Rewiring your home
Wiring is a messy job and is considered major works. However Allied Electrical have the experience, skills, and quality workmanship to make this process run as smoothly as possible. The rewire process is relatively simple, we will first visit your Yate & Chipping Sodbury home and assess your electrical system and wiring. This is known as an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report). An EICR will identify any faults and allow us to fully understand your electrical system to determine what upgrades are needed. After the EICR we may find that you only need a partial rewire rather than a full, if this is the case this will be a lot less disruptive and time consuming. However, If we suggest a full rewire, we will sit down and go through the whole process before we start to ensure you fully understand what works will be carried out. We will also take this time to discuss additions and alterations, for example extra sockets and switches. You can decide the placement of these additions and of course, this will be factored in when providing a quote.
Time to rewire…
Rewire process
After these discussions and when you give us the green light, we will begin the rewire process. A rewire is typically split into two parts: first and second fix. During the first fix we will be prepping the home by marking out new additions, clearing areas and laying down dust sheets to keep your home as clean and protected as possible. Any other prep work that’s needed will also be carried out to make the second fix easier and more efficient. The second fix consists of replacing the whole electrical system including all accessible wiring. We typically work from the top down, replacing one circuit at a time. This means you won’t be left without power overnight. This is when we would also install sockets and switches and also upgrade your fuse-box. One the rewire is complete we will then ensure all installations are fully tested and certify the job. Finally, the last step being re decorating, all holes and chases will need replastering. You can either choose your own re decorator for this part or we can of course give some recommendations. The whole process of rewiring will take around 4-5 days for an average size home. This gives us enough time to get the job done properly without cutting corners.
